Deep Squat Hold challenge: how long can you hold it?

The deep squat, or malasana, is the position many people lose in adulthood. Hold it with your hips below your knees and the camera counts every second.

How to play

  1. Stand facing the camera, about 1.5 metres back, so your head to your knees are in frame. Your feet can be out of frame.
  2. Squat down until your hips drop below your knees, feet flat, chest up. This is the yogi squat, malasana.
  3. Stay low. The timer starts when the pose locks in.

World record

The longest recorded hold we found is 2:00:47 by Gabby Rushing (USA), 2022 (Guinness World Records). Records can be broken after we last checked, and a hold timed on SlayFit is not an official attempt.

If your heels lift, turn your toes out a little or put a folded towel under your heels.
